Lisa’s Hen Weekend

Lisa is getting married in August, and Lizzie is a bridesmaid, which is cool. I produced various ‘branded’ items including a cd inlay and tee shirts for the girls on the hen weekend to Stratford, which all went down very well. I guess it’s a novelty to have hen tee shirts that aren’t rubbish!

Three times a year, Rayner Opticians launch seasonal Point of Sale campaigns in their 130 stores across the UK. April marked the launch of the Spring 2008 campaign including leaflets, image boards, window vinyls, brochures, posters and lightbox displays. Here you can see a sample of the designs we produced at Mutual Ideas.

For my recent birthday I had a party for which the theme was ‘O for Owen’.

My best man’s wedding speech included reference to a fondness I had for Spaghetti Hoops as a young child. The reason being that I thought they were all letter ‘O’s for Owen!

The invitation was therefore designed as a can of Heinz Spaghetti ‘O for Owens’, customised to feature the details of the event.

Mutley Baptist Church

MBC1MBC2MBC3 Another branding job, but on a larger scale than the other logos I’ve designed.Working alongside the communications team at Mutley Baptist Church I spent several months completing various stages of research and development (see first image for some developement of the logo towards the end of the process) to complete the final logo (see second image). The design features the Cross at the centre – the focus of the church, and from this cross comes an ornate flourish which indicates the new life that comes from Christ.The logo will be used across stationery & signage within the church and will be developed and applied to different aspects of the church’s service including youth and children’s work.

Here you can see selected logos and branding for some of my freelance clients.

(i) Atlantic Office Backcare produce ergonomic office furniture; (ii) Bereavement Counselling Service logo features a heart and teardrop graphic, demonstrating care and sadness; (iii) Inside Out Building Services chose the green logo below but the image above was a concept and execution I was particularly pleased with but the client preferred a more simple design; (iv) Spaniq are an IT Solutions company for whom I designed this crest logo. The leaping salmon and three arched bridge refer to the coat of arms of Horrabridge, a small town in Devon where Spaniq are based.

Artworking and layout for various product brochures and technical specification documents for Škoda UK (top). These often contain lots of facts, figures and tables but one more creative job for Škoda was a brochure promoting the new Octavia and Fabia vRS (bottom) where I got chance to experiment with type and texture as well as striking and emotive photography.

Pulse Bikes

This was a college project from my Packaging degree.

The brief described a government led initiative promoting the use of sustainable transport. We were asked to brand a new chain of bike shops which would encourage people to cycle rather than drive. My solution revolved around the name Pulse which invoked a feeling of adrenaline, freedom and style. The heart rate monitor graphic became the terrain on which an illustrated cyclist was travelling and on each pack the terrain would change slightly and the movement of the cyclist would indicate the product contained.

Having been the primary artworker for Rayner Opticians’ point of sale campaigns for the past 3 years I have assisted on photoshoots, performed high end retouching and artworking, and checked results on press, giving me an integral role throughout the whole process. These tri-annual campaigns appear in 140 stores nationwide.

Here you can see examples of the retouching work I have completed on various shots, and below are some examples of the artwork produced including spreads from ‘The Collection’ (a 16 page A3 look book) and an image board and ‘The Collection’ in store.
